Fwd: prelude to my next article - reply to willie (s'porean remisier)
Assalamualaikum Prof,

Sorry, kept on getting error messages (ingatkan ada
orang gamkan your email!). I have been using the one
when you send me the BA Budget graphs, 1 year
ago?). Anyway, this one I got from Noorul, my
neighbour next door at INTAN.

She told me you wished to see The Edge article in
which I "criticised" you. Still interested? In fact I wanted
to show you some of the results I have analysed, esp.
w.r.t. the r/ship of the economy & the stock market --
the debate on the chicken & egg argument. I don't know,
but in my thesis at ANU, written way back in 1985, I
have concluded that the CI did in fact lead the GDP by
2-3 qtrs. It is a barometer for economic health & sickness
(as well!). This is the part which politicians &
fundamental analysts failed or refused to agree upon).
Bila CI naik... aaa the economy is doing very well, tapi
bila turun... nop, the index is not the only criterion one
should looked at! Sounds familiar?

For now I just like to fwd to you some of the responses I
have been getting all these while -- on a couple of brief
articles published by The Edge in Feb 99, Feb 14 & Oct
2000. When the bulls were back they forgot all about it,
but now enquiries kept coming back..... asking for what
next?

Will get you photostat copies of them if you wish to
glance thru over coffee/ teh tarik. But please don't
expect something very academic sounding in them,
cos my objective was to share some of my thoughts
with the general investors/ speculators out there in
the financial jungle. And this one comes from a non-
expert!

TQ & Wassalaaam.

Best regards,

Arifin Abdul Latif
